Over the years, Garwan has helped to design numerous different modules on backend as well as Android and iOS solutions for ÖBB's Ticketshop - one of the largest IT projects in Austria, which combines and enables train tickets sale online, in mobile apps and in thousand of ticket machines nationwide. Similarly our team has contributed to the intermodal 'wegfinder' app and Garwan has also developed a complete mobile system for meal ordering by train passengers, including back-office management of the whole process for the catering-crew (as a pilot project on RailJet trains).
Since its foundation in 2008, Garwan has been involved in numerous (20+) projects of one of the largest companies in Austria - the Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB. We develop and maintain new and legacy software, carry out analyses, design, implementation, quality assurance and performance optimization of systems within the ÖBB Group at Rail Cargo Austria, Rail Cargo Hungaria, ÖBB Passenger Transport and the ÖBB Business Competence Center.
The majority of our many years of expertise in the railway sector comes from participation in IT projects in freight transport. This includes tasks such as the preparation of production data for Rail Cargo Austria and Rail Cargo Hungaria, as well as linking with commercial data and providing the data for evaluations and subsequent systems. We have successfully and cost-effectively completed integrations with end customer systems (ÖMV, RedBull, VÖEST, etc.) as well as with third-party solutions (such as Raildata, Railcube, Cargo1492, Atlas, etc.). For Xrail.eu (an alliance of major European rail freight companies, based in Switzerland), we have dealt with topics such as single wagonload and capacity booking and, in addition to implementation, also carried out consulting activities (pre-study, reporting, review, or long-term support in the area of business intelligence).
Garwan Consulting team participated in the development and maintenance of solutions for intermodal terminals, e.g. for movement and optimization of loading cranes and forklifts. Did you know that for a forklift big enough to lift an entire container, even the wear on its expensive tires is critical to profitability? Everything costs money and the optimization algorithms must not ignore even the smallest factors in their calculations!
